NEWSLETTER FROM NAMIBIAN WAGYU SOCIETY

Dear members,

AGM

Please save the date! Our AGM will take place on 6 November 2024. A Wagyu braai will be offered to participants. Time and venue still to be confirmed.

The deadline for proposals to change bylaws is, according to our constitution, 40 days prior to the date of the AGM, by 28 September 2024.

NSBA PROBLEMS

Since many of our members have problems with the registration of animals at the NSBA, the up-keep of the data and the correctness, etc. the NSBA has offered to have a workshop meeting with NWS members, some time in November, to explain in detail the steps and processes that need to be followed. Please indicate your interest for participation by return e-mail directly to me, so we can ascertain whether there will be enough people for organizing such an event. Depending on the interest, the time and venue will be communicated.

MARKET INFORMATION

During July and August 2024, the following number of animals were slaughtered:

Export - 32 animals with an average marble score of 7, the highest being a MS 11. The hot carcass average weight was 350.79 kg. There were three F2 animals in the batch.

Local - 18 animals with an average marble score of 6, the highest being a MS 9. Hot carcass average weight was a phenomenal 502.38 kg!

A total of 50 animals with an average MS 7 and carcass weight of 411.77 were thus marketed over this period.

With kind regards

Joachim Cranz

NWS PRESIDENT
