The following governing and industry bodies play an important role in the Wagyu and broader livestock sector:

World Wagyu Council (WWC)

Namibian Stud Breeders Association (NSBA)

Livestock & Livestock Products Board of Namibia (LLPB)

Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform (MAWLR)

Certified Wagyu South Africa (CWS)
Constitution
The Constitution of the Namibian Wagyu Society governs the structure, objectives, and operations of the Society.
It outlines membership requirements, governance structures, voting procedures, and the roles and responsibilities of office bearers.
Protocols & Standards
The Namibian Wagyu Society has developed a set of protocols to protect the integrity of the Wagyu breed and Wagyu beef products in Namibia. These protocols support breed integrity, traceability, quality assurance, and consumer confidence, and must be read in conjunction with the NWS Constitution and applicable national legislation.
1. Introduction to the Namibian Wagyu Society Protocols
It also defines key terminology, Wagyu breed classifications, certification concepts, and the role of national traceability and quality assurance systems in supporting authentic Wagyu production and marketing.
2. Producer Protocol
It also defines key terminology, Wagyu breed classifications, certification concepts, and the role of national traceability and quality assurance systems in supporting authentic Wagyu production and marketing.
3. Accredited Abattoir Protocol
This protocol defines the requirements for accredited abattoirs handling Wagyu cattle. It outlines verification steps before slaughter, slaughter procedures, carcass handling, marbling assessment, and traceability requirements.
The protocol ensures consistent handling, assessment, and classification of Wagyu carcasses, supporting accurate marbling results, certification, and market confidence.
4. Accredited Retailer Protocol
The Retailer Protocol governs how Wagyu beef may be marketed, displayed, and sold in Namibia. It applies to all retailers, processors, restaurants, wholesalers, and food service outlets selling Wagyu products.
The protocol ensures that Wagyu products are correctly labelled, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), and that consumers receive clear and accurate information regarding Wagyu content and marbling standards.
5. Protocol on Imported Genetics
Approved protocol outlines the process and criteria of imported Wagyu genetics, including live animals, semen, and embryos. It defines the role of the Technical Committee, approval procedures, appeal mechanisms, and genetic evaluation criteria.
The protocol aims to safeguard genetic integrity and manage known genetic conditions associated with Wagyu cattle.
Important notice:
This protocol is provided for transparency and awareness only. It does not yet constitute an approved or enforceable standard of the Namibian Wagyu Society.
